Our Story
The Past to the Present
Denmark Chocolate Company opened in 2009 and was the inspiration and passion of Chris and Annalise Grain. After thirteen years of operations, in 2023 they decided to retire and enjoy the wonderful lifestyle that Denmark offers.
In June 2023, Denmark Chocolate Company was purchased by Christine Rumble and David Boulton under the company name of Wine Tree Estate Pty Ltd.
Christine and Dave are avid foodies who love nothing more than experimenting with different flavours of food and beverage.
Whilst looking for a place in the south west to develop short-term holiday accommodation, they fell in love with the beautiful gardens and surrounding forest of the 6-hectare property on which Denmark Chocolate Company is located.
Dave and Christine seized the opportunity to purchase both the land and business to help create their accommodation vision whilst having an established food and beverage operation already in place.
Discovering passions
Chocolate hand-crafting
Dave engaged in personalised sessions with a French patisserie chef to ensure he was the right fit for being a chocolatier, and found not only did he have a natural flair but also a burning passion to embark on this new career.
He continued to develop his chocolate-making skills under the guidance of Chris Grain during the first month of operation. Dave has a background in the jewellery industry, a love of experimenting with flavours, and an obsession with attention to detail, all of which has proven to be a great combination to unlocking the art of making delicious chocolate creations.
Customer service excellence
With over 35 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Christine has escaped her executive career to embark on what she loves most – providing excellence in customer service.
Passionate about ensuring that everyone has a great experience when visiting Denmark Chocolate Company, Christine will be there greeting you with a welcoming smile and gentle advice to help you in your chocolate pairing journey.
The Future
The vision for the property includes the addition of four chalets for short-term accommodation, which will be a perfect holiday destination for couples, social groups, or families. Further information will be made available once approvals are in place.
Dave and Christine also believe that the Denmark Chocolate Company timeline garden is such an amazing display of foliage and bird life that it should be enjoyed by everyone. As such the gardens will be available for hire for special events including weddings.
